Hi, I’m Hunter!
My story didn’t start with Graphic Design. It wasn’t something I set out to do. It all started with a young teenager trying to figure out who he wanted to be. When my friends enrolled in an animation program at my high school for college credit, I thought maybe it could be the start of something. I’ve always been keen on working with creative media such as drawing, painting, sculpture but wasn’t sure how to translate it to a career. For three years, I studied 2D, 3D, hand drawn, digital, and stop motion animation. I realized my most passionate work is driven by creative problem-solving. Though animation helped me discover this, after researching what I was going to major in at college, I was intrigued by the Graphic Design BFA program at UNR. I knew this was the perfect opportunity to combine creative thinking with a career.
Design has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for the creative part of me that’s always hungry. I love how fluid designers can be in their work, and how they approach everything as a challenge. It makes life more interesting, always being on the hunt for interesting typography, design choices, and intriguing compositions in real world applications of our work. Graphic Design has allowed me to combine my love of problem-solving with being creative. Though my path wasn’t linear, I’ve discovered a life calling, a career that reflects who I am and who I want to be, a professional creative problem solver. I’ve always hopped from one project to the next, and design is a perfect avenue for creating work that is fluid and always evolving. I want to make designs that inspire and that create meaningful connections between people through visual story telling.
